Looking south from the mountain of Punta Medico, a boat is seen on the Gulf of Salerno sailing from the pier at Positano. The peak of the Punta Medico is about 3011 feet (918 meters) above sea level. On the crest in the center of the image the medieval mountain top town of Santa Maria del Castello can be seen with its church overlooking the sea. Haze from the cool waters of the gulf causes the horizon to blend into the beautiful blue Mediterranean sky in the background of the photograph.
