Dried Flower Petals and Cross, Lafayette Cemetery No. 1, New Orleans
Dried flower petals in a bowl in a found still life photograph at Layfette Cemetery in the Garden District of New Orleans, Louisiana. In a glass bowl and atop a granite pedestal, the flower petals appear as if a votive offering to a deity. Even though the cross is carved into the pedestal the arrangement is more pagan than Christian. The flickering light catches the dried petals to give them a feeling of a mystic inner glow.
